CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois Softball team is gearing up for its final games of the regular-season with a three-game series at Drake this weekend.
SIU is currently at the top of the Valley standings with an 18-4 conference record, 34-17 overall. The Bulldogs are an even 11-11 in Valley play, 30-18 overall.
SIU leads Drake 43-18-1 all-time, while Kerri Blaylock boasts an impressive 17-5 record against the Bulldogs in her 11 years as head coach.
The Salukis secured a top-three spot last weekend with their sweep over Northern Iowa. SIU allowed only one run from the Panthers in the three-game series. This weekend's action will determine the top seeds for the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, as Southern Illinois, Illinois State and Creighton battle for the No. 1 spot.
The Salukis and Bulldogs will face off in a doubleheader scheduled for noon, followed by the final game Saturday at noon.
