Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois assistant softball coach Jen Sewell will transition into the role of associate head coach after Christy Connoyer was recently named head coach at Saint Louis University.
Sewell begins her third year with the Salukis after spending five years as an assistant coach at Kansas, where she served as the hitting and infield coach and helped the Jayhawks to their first Big 12 championship and second straight NCAA Regional appearance in 2006.
"This is a easy transition for Coach Sewell," Head coach Kerri Blaylock said. "She has been a huge asset to the program the last two years and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position."
A four-year letter winner at Ohio University from 1996-2000, where she played infield and catcher, Sewell also spent four seasons as an assistant at Princeton University where she acted as head coach from November 2003 to January 2004 and helped win back-to-back Ivy League championships.
