Women's Basketball releases schedule for 2010-11 season

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team has announced its schedule for the upcoming 2010-11 season.
Highlights include the Salukis' season opener at newly renovated SIU Arena on Nov. 12, against UT-Martin as well as five of the six first games of the season on their home court.
"It is an exciting time to be involved with Saluki Athletics with the completion of Saluki Way and we put ourselves in a good position to open the season with five or our first six games at home," head coach Missy Tiber said.
The Salukis' season also includes two challenging matchups on the road, with Big Ten opponent Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. and a meeting with Southeastern Conference foe Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn.
`The experiences at home for this team will prepare us for the challenges that we will be faced with at perennial powers Vanderbilt and Purdue and will get us ready for our conference schedule," Tiber said.
Non-conference home matchups include Tennessee State (Nov. 16), Northern Illinois (Nov. 19), Austin Peay (Nov. 28) and Saint Louis (Dec. 2).
Other non-conference games including road games at Western Michigan (Nov. 24) and Murray State (Dec. 18).
The Salukis will begin Missouri Valley Conference play on the road with a New Year's Eve game in Springfield, Mo. to take on Missouri State.
Home conference games will begin when the Salukis host Drake on Jan. 6, and Creighton on Jan. 8.
The 2011 State Farm MVC Tournament will take place Mar. 10-13 in St. Charles, Mo.
The Salukis will play one exhibition game when they host Illinois-Springfield on Nov. 6.
