Pre-game Notes

Southern Illinois won the toss, elected to receive. Southeast Missouri State to defend the South goal.
First Quarter
SIU ran the ball to Lucien Walker on eight of the first 10 plays of the game. He gained 39 yards on those rushes that all came on the first drive of the game.
Joe Allaria's catch on the first pass of the game gave him a completion in 23 consecutive games. It was a seven yard gain.
Chris Dieker threw his first interception of the season at 10:26. It came on his 52nd pass attempt of the season.
Joe Okon recovered the first fumble of his career on the SIU 42-yard line at 6:44. It came on an errant pitch from SEMO quarterback Matt Scheible on an option play.
Steve Strother's 91-yard touchdown on a kickoff return was his first return for a touchdown in his career. It was SIU's fifth kickoff return for a TD under head coach Dale Lennon.
Second Quarter
Paul McIntosh quarterbacked the first series of the second quarter for the Salukis.
Kyle Dougherty punted for the first time in his career at 4:06. It was a 31-yard punt that was downed at the Redhawk 8-yard line. Southern Illinois held SEMO to 37 yards of total offense in the second quarter and just two first downs.
Third Quarter
SIU's first drive of the third quarter went 80 yards on 12 plays and took 5:40. 11 of the 12 plays were rushes. Shariff Harris had eight of the carries for 43 yards and finished the drive with a three-yard TD run.
