CARBONDALE, Ill. - Former Southern Illinois football player Bart Scott will be playing in his ninth career playoff game this weekend as he leads the New York Jets into the AFC wild card game at Indianapolis on Saturday.
Scott's Jets face the Colts Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The game is being televised on NBC.
Scott, playing in his ninth NFL season after his four-year Saluki career ended in 2001, is the Jets' second-leading tackler in 2010 with 81 stops. He has a 4-4 record in his career in playoff games and has advanced to each of the last two AFC title games (New York Jets 2009, Baltimore Ravens 2008).
Last season, Scott's Jets lost to Indianapolis, 30-17, falling one game short of reaching the Super Bowl.
The Colts have won three of the last four matchups against the Jets, and the two teams did not meet in the 2010 regular season.
Scott was inducted into the Saluki Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. His 352 tackles in a Saluki uniform is the seventh-most in program history and he also ranks in the Top 10 in career sacks and tackles for a loss.
His senior season saw him garner first team All-Gateway Conference accolades, as he tied SIU's single-season record with 18.0 tackles for a loss.
