PARIS, Tenn. - The SIU men's golf team heads to Paris, Tenn. for the Skyhawk Fall Classic on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament will be held at the 6,685-yard, par-72 Paris Landin Golf Club.
SIU is coming off a third-place finish in the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate and has two top-five finishes in three tournaments this year. Brandon Cauldwell picked up his first top-five finish of the season and has an even 72 stroke average this year. For his third-place performance at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate, he received Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week honors, becoming the first SIU men's golfer to earn the award in three seasons.
Last year, the Salukis finished seventh at the Skyhawk Fall Classic. George Tate led the team with a one under par, the only time a Saluki player finished an entire tournament under par in 2010-11.
The Skyhawk Fall Classic is the fourth tournament in a row that the Salukis played in last year. So far, Southern has shown dramatic improvement in each tournament from last year, including a 10-place, 57-stroke improvement in the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate.
