CARBONDALE, Ill. - WSIU Public Broadcasting will televise five Southern Illinois University men's basketball games this season, according to Will Patterson, General Manager for Saluki Sports Properties.
The PBS station will air the non-conference game versus SIUE (Dec. 19), as well as Missouri Valley Conference matchups versus Bradley (Jan. 4 and Jan. 24), at Northern Iowa (Jan. 31) and at Indiana State (Feb. 11).
"Saluki basketball on WSIU is a natural, and we're excited to bring another season to this region," said Greg Petrowich, Executive Director of WSIU. "Fans are going to get to see some great regional matchups as well as some classic rivalries this winter on WSIU."
WSIU's broadcast footprint reaches into five states (Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Missouri) through its three digital television channels. The station is widely carried by local cable and satellite providers, and is also available over-the-air.
Petrowich said WSIU's partnership with Saluki Sports Properties gives students a unique opportunity to work on live televised sports productions. The package of games brings to 13 the number of times Saluki Basketball will appear on local, regional or national television this season.
