SERIES WITH CREIGHTON
Creighton leads the all-time series between the two teams 29-15 with the Bluejays having won the last six.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
A strong second half propelled Creighton past SIU 68-51 Jan. 8 at SIU Arena. The Salukis trailed just 28-25 at halftime after holding the Bluejays to a 35.5 percent shooting percentage in the first half. The second half saw Creighton improve to a 51.6 percent clip as the Salukis struggled to keep the Bluejays off the offensive glass. Creighton pulled down 17 offensive boards, out-rebounding Southern 43-30. Katrina Swingler scored 12 points and pulled down six rebounds for SIU in the loss while Charnise Mitchell added 10 points.
SYCAMORES SLIP PAST SALUKIS
SIU Saw its best shot at its first MVC win slip away in the final minutes of a 48-42 loss to Indiana State Saturday at SIU Arena. The Salukis had their biggest halftime lead of the season at 26-14, but shot just 14.7 percent in the second half. Southern took a 39-38 lead with under five minutes to play, but ISU responded with a 7-0 run. The Salukis had a few open looks during the run, but couldn't get anything to fall.
LEMAR WITH THE ASSIST
Brooke LeMar's career-best eight assist outing against Indiana State helped the freshman take the MVC lead with an average of 5.2 assists per game in Valley play. LeMar only had one turnover against the Sycamores, tying a season low and marking her best single-game assist/turnover ratio of the season.
OLIVER FOR THREE
Teri Oliver launched 15 3-pointers against Indiana State, matching her career high she set in the Salukis' season opener against UT Martin. The mark ties the seventh-highest single-game total in school history and the 14th-highest in Missouri Valley Conference history.
