→ Southern Illinois welcomes in Saint Louis, Northern Illinois and Illinois to Carbondale for some weekend baseball action at Abe Martin Field. Each team will play every other school once over the weekend. The games are scheduled for 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. each day.
The Salukis will play Saint Louis on Friday, Northern Illinois on Saturday and Illinois on Sunday. All three Saluki games are being broadcast on the radio at WFRX 1300-AM with the call of Mike Reis. Video and radio streaming is available at SIUSalukis.com through Game Central.
→ Southern Illinois enters the weekend having lost six-straight games and 11 out of its last 13. The last time SIU lost seven or more games in a row was back in 2004, when the Salukis opened the season with 12 consecutive losses. SIU went on to win 27 of its last 47 games after that losing streak in 2004.
→ Saluki center fielder Chris Murphy it batting .500 over the course of the last six games. He has seven more hits than any other Saluki does in that time.
→ Outfielder Jordan Sivertsen has accounted for 25 percent of SIU's run production this year. He leads the team with three home runs and 14 RBIs.
→ Because of injuries and inconsistency, Southern Illinois has been forced to use 15 different lineups in 16 games this season.
→ The Salukis enter the weekend having totaled 25 hits in their last two games. SIU's 14 hits in Wednesday game are the second most this season.
