→ After opening the year with 10-straight road games, the Southern Illinois baseball team (4-6) finally returns home to host a pair of midweek games at Abe Martin Field, Tuesday and Wednesday, against Le Moyne College. First pitch for both games is set for 2 p.m. "Voice of the Salukis" Mike Reis will be calling the action on the radio at WFRX 1300-AM and at SIUSalukis.com through Game Central.
→ The Hill at Abe Martin Field will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday due to poor ground conditions.
→ The Salukis are coming off two wins last weekend at the University of Memphis Baseball Classic. SIU defeated Oral Roberts, 9-2, on Saturday and came back on Sunday to shutout Memphis, 2-0. Friday's scheduled game against Eastern Kentucky was rained out. The Salukis were the only undefeated team in the tournament.
→ SIU placed six players on the Memphis Baseball Classic All-Tournament Team, which was more than any of the other three schools had: Donny Duschinsky (3B), Jordan Sivertsen (OF), Chris Murphy (DH), Cody Forsythe (SP), Cameron Maldonado (SP), Tyler Dray (RP).
→ Le Moyne enters the midweek series with a 1-9 record after dropping three games at Saint Louis last weekend. The Dolphins are batting .225 as a team and score four runs per game while their pitching staff has a 7.19 team ERA and has given up 8.2 runs per game. Le Moyne went 28-27 in 2010 and returns 21 letterwinners, six starters in the field.
→ Sophomore infielder Austin Montgomery will be held out of the better part of the next month due to illness. Montgomery started at first base in each of SIU's first eight games and was hitting .269 with one home run and four RBIs. He was an honorable mention All-MVC player as a freshman in 2010.
→ The Salukis have won five out of their last six home openers and the one loss in that time came last season against Middle Tennessee. SIU is 10-5 in its last 15 home openers.
→ Tuesday's game begins a stretch for the Salukis where they play 10 games over the next 13 days.
→ Southern Illinois and Le Moyne have never faced each other.
