CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois women's basketball coach Missy Tiber announced today three players have been granted releases from the program.
Rani Brandon, Taylor Ignoto and Renee Reed requested to be released from the Saluki program, each expressing a desire to seek schools closer to home at which they could contribute.
"I want to thank Rani, Renee and Taylor for their contributions to SIU and our women's basketball program," Tiber said. "All three are good kids and we understand their desires. We wish them nothing but the best in their futures."
Brandon and Ignoto both exit the program after one season in Carbondale. A transfer from Parkland Junior College, Brandon played in seven games this season, averaging 1.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. Ignoto played in 17 games and made one start as a freshman in 2010-11, finishing the season with an average of 1.0 point per game.
Reed leaves SIU after two seasons, although she only played one. After taking a medical redshirt in 2009-10, the Covington, Tenn., native played in 22 games and made five starts this season, averaging 5.6 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
