McCall finishes 12th in discus at USATF Championships

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Southern Illinois track and field athlete Jeneva McCall took 12th place in the discus throw at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday in Eugene, Ore.
McCall, who recently completed her junior season at SIU, reached a mark of 176-01 (53.67m) to finish fourth among collegiate athletes competing. Defending Olympic discus gold medalist Stephanie Brown Trafton won the event with a throw of 207-10 (63.35m).
McCall and recent SIU graduate Gwen Berry will compete Saturday in the women's hammer throw. The top three finishers will advance to the IAAF World Championships later this summer in Daegu, Korea, provided they meet the provisional marks.
