Boemer, Pickard named to Phil Steele Preseason All-American Teams

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Southern Illinois seniors Bryan Boemer and David Pickard were named Wednesday to Phil Steele's 2011 Preseason FCS All-American Teams that were released in his 2011 FCS College Football Preview magazine.
Pickard, a 6-5, 306-pound, left tackle was named to Steele's Preseason All-America second team while Boemer, a 6-2, 317-pound center, was named to the third team.
Both Boemer and Pickard have been All-Missouri Valley Football Conference selections in each of the past two seasons and they highlight the Saluki offensive line that returns all five starts from the 2010 team.
In addition to the Preseason All-America teams that were released, Steele also announced his Preseason All-MVFC team.
Boemer, Pickard and senior safety Mike McElroy were named to his Preseason All-MVFC first team. Senior defensive end Chance Coda and junior outside linebacker Jayson DiManche were selected to the second team.
The Salukis report for fall camp on Saturday, Aug. 6 and the first practice will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7.
