CARBONDALE, Ill. - For the fourth time in school history, Southern Illinois has been selected to host the Softball State Farm MVC Tournament for the 2012 season.
This is the second time in less than five years that the SIU has been picked to host the conference tournament, which will take place on May 10-12, 2012 at Charlotte West Stadium.
Completed in 2003, this will be the third MVC Tournament that will be played in Charlotte West Stadium. The state-of-the-art facility hosted the 2004 & 2008 conference championships and served host to the 2007 NCAA Regionals.
The Salukis also hosted the tournament back in 1990, when it was named the Gateway Conference.
The tournament will continue with the same double-bye, single elimination format that was reinstated in 2011. All games will be broadcast live via MVC Live, the conference's free online video streaming program.
The championship game will also be televised live on Fox Sports Midwest with R.C. Mc Bride and Laura Leonard, who will be calling the action for all tournament games.
