Duran-Sellers named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois softball player Mallory Duran-Sellers has been named a Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the week, the league announced today.

A senior from Windsor, Colo., Duran-Sellers earned the honor after helping the Salukis take two of three from Creighton last weekend. Southern's leadoff hitter, Duran-Sellers went 4-for-8 from the plate over the weekend with a 1.000 slugging percentage. She knocked in four runs, including a solo home run in the series finale, in addition to drawing five walks.

Duran-Sellers was also active in the base paths, stealing two bases and scoring seven runs in the series. Defensively, the center fielder also recorded 10 putouts for a perfect fielding percentage.

An English education major, Duran-Sellers holds a 4.0 cumulative GPA.
