CARBONDALE, Ill. -- More than 125 women attended the annual Saluki Football women's clinic on the campus of Southern Illinois University on Thursday evening.
The two-hour clinic, which was led by head football coach Dale Lennon and his staff, featured a question and answer session with Saluki football players and coaches, as well as lessons on offense, defense and special teams. There were additional sessions on the rules of the game and strength training.
"I like that this event was created just for women," said participant Teresa Coleman of Herrin. "They cater the evening to our thirst for knowledge and our desire to understand the game of football, we really learn so much."
The women's clinic was sponsored by Great Boars of Fire, Greg and Donna Walters, Shawnee Winery Cooperative, 710 Bookstore, Gary and Noella Orlandini, and Jim and Vicki Blair.
The Saluki Football team will play its annual Spring Game on Friday at 7 p.m. at Saluki Stadium.
