Salukis conclude MVC Individual Championships

DES MOINES, Iowa--The Southern Illinois Men's Tennis team concluded play Sunday at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships, completing semi-finals of doubles competition.
Senior Brandon Florez and sophomore Martijn Admiraal were the only Salukis competing on the final day of the tournament. The duo dropped their match to James McKie and Alen Salisbasic of Drake, 4-8.
SIU closed out the tournament bringing home two third-place finishes in the singles tournament. Badr Cherradi claimed third place in flight one while Jorge Cavero took third in flight three.
Tournament host Drake headlined the weekend capturing a league-record nine titles on the final day of the MVC Individuals.
Southern Illinois will open their dual match season in Madison, Wisc., Jan. 26-27 facing Wisconsin and University of Missouri-Kansas City.
