Three Salukis compete in pentathlon at Hoosier Open

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Saluki track and field sent three student-athletes to Indiana University for the Hoosier Open on Saturday, where each of them participated in the indoor pentathlon.
Juniors Dean Jordan and Xzavier Kimbrough represented SIU in the men's indoor pentathlon, and freshman Shaneice Bufford participated in the women's pentathlon.
On the women's side, Bufford finished fifth overall with 2916 points. Bufford's performance included a victory in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.05 seconds and a third-place finish in the shot put at 9.93m (32-07.00).
For the men, Jordan finished seventh and Kimbrough eighth. Jordan posted a personal best in the 1000 meter run (fourth place, 2:51.85), and both he and Kimbrough finished back-to-back in the shot put. Kimbrough took third place at 11.00m (36-01.25) and Jordan took fourth at 10.93m (35-10.50).
Saluki track and field will resume the indoor season on Jan. 11-12 at home with the Saluki Open at the SIU Recreation Center.
