Southern Illinois junior offensive lineman Corey Boemer has been named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Division I second team. The Capital One Academic All-America honor recognizes 24 student-athletes on the first team and 24 student-athletes on the second team.
Boemer started all 12 games for the Salukis in 2013, starting the first two games at left tackle before moving to left guard for the last 10 games. He helped the Salukis to 384.9 yards of total offense per game, which ranked third in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Boemer is majoring in biological sciences and has a 3.93 cumulative GPA. Earlier this week, he was named to the MVFC All-Academic first team.
Boemer is the sixth Saluki to earn Academic All-America honors in Coach Dale Lennon's six seasons at SIU. Prior to Lennon's tenure, SIU had produced a total of six Academic All-Americans since the honor began in 1952.
