Men's Tennis takes down Western Illinois, 6-1

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Southern Illinois men's tennis team concluded a busy weekend with a 6-1 win over in-state rival Western Illinois on Sunday.
A day after besting McKendree University, the Salukis continued their success in Sunday match, dominating the visiting Leathernecks.
In double action Badr Cherradi and Jonny Rigby defeated Ben Yue and Chris Bunch, 8-1 while Martijn Admiraal and Brandon Florez bested Mitch Granger and Bradley Holt, 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.
Southern won 5-of-6 matches in singles play. Leading the way was Cherradi who defeated Granger in straight sets at the No. 3 spot and Rafael Cuadrillero won at the No. 4 spot (6-0, 6-1).
Brandon Florez bounced back at the No. 1 spot, defeating Holt (7-6(5), 6-2).
"We came out strong winning easily at several spots and we are improving with every match," said Nelson. "We have some tough matches coming up with St. Louis and Eastern Illinois, but we are looking forward to playing at home."
