Grey Dawg to defend Mascot Madness title this week

CARBONDALE, Ill.-- Saluki Athletics encourages fans to vote for Southern Illinois mascot Grey Dawg this week as he looks to defend his Missouri Valley Conference Mascot Madness title.
Now in its third year, Mascot Madness is an annual Facebook-based competition put on by the Valley in which nine MVC member mascots compete for the most votes. The mascots are pit against each other each day in head-to-head matchups with winners advancing in a single-elimination bracket.
Two-time defending champion Grey Dawg opens his 2013 Mascot Madness starting Wednesday against Evansville's Ace Purple. Saluki fans are encouraged to log on and vote for Grey Dawg on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to help keep the Mascot Madness title in Carbondale for the third consecutive season.
Fans can vote on the MVC Facebook page at facebook.com/MissouriValleyConference or on the Saluki Athletics Facebook page at facebook.com/SalukiAthletics. Voting begins at 9 a.m. each day and each Facebook user can vote once per matchup.
In addition, fans are encouraged to use Facebook's "share" function to encourage their friends to vote for Grey Dawg. Saluki Athletics will give a free T-shirt each round to two random fans who both a.) vote for Grey Dawg and b.) "share" their vote.
