SIU receives votes in FCS Coaches Preseason Poll

Southern Illinois has received six points in the FCS Coaches Preseason Poll. The Salukis are one of eight Missouri Valley Football Conference teams to receive at least one vote in the poll.
The 10-team MVFC placed five teams in the top 25 including two-time defending national champion North Dakota State, which took the top spot in the poll and received 23 of the 26 first-place votes. South Dakota State and Illinois State are also in the top 10 at No. 7 and No. 10, respectively.
Fellow Valley schools Northern Iowa (No. 16) and Youngstown State (No. 24) also made the poll while SIU’s week two opponent Eastern Illinois checked in at No. 23.
