SIU Swimming and Diving wraps up weekend competition

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Kaixuan 'Sherry' Zhang highlighted a weekend competition for Southern Illinois, picking up wins in the one and three-meter dive against Illinois State and the University of Illinois on Saturday.
Salukis dropped a pair of duals in Bloomington, Ill, losing 207.5-91.5 to Illinois and 159.5-139.5 to the Redbirds.
Zhang once again led the women's diving team, picking up two more wins to increase her season total to six. In the one-meter dive, Zhang bested the field after carding a final score of 353.20. She was able to edge Wenting Zhang of Illinois State by nearly 22 points. Zhang put together another strong performance in the three-meter dive, earning her second win of the day with a final score of 403.45. She once again best ISU's Zhang, this time by nearly 40 points.
Freshman Kelsie Walker earned a second place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, while fellow freshman Bryn Handley finished third in the 200-yard IM, 100-yard freestyle, and the 200-yard freestyle.
The Salukis will be back in action next Friday and Saturday, when the team travels to Lexington, Ky. That meet will comprise of the Salukis, Kentucky, Missouri, and Northwestern.
