NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Southern Illinois tight end MyCole Pruitt has been named to Walter Camp's 2014 FCS All-America team, the organization announced Tuesday. Pruitt is the first Saluki to earn All-America honors from the Walter Camp Foundation since Deji Karim and Brandin Jordan in 2009.
Pruitt was statistically the best tight end in college football in 2014, racking up a school-record 81 catches for 861 yards and 13 touchdowns. He caught at least one touchdown pass in all eight conference games and ranks first in Missouri Valley Football Conference history in career receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns among tight ends.
Pruitt earned his second All-America honor of 2014 after earning All-America laurels from the American Football Coaches Association yesterday. Pruitt was a consensus first-team All-American last year, earning honors from the Associated Press, AFCA, The Sports Network and ADA, but this is his first All-America selection by the Walter Camp Foundation.
The 25-man team was selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Football Championship Subdivision schools and certified by the accounting and auditing firm, Marcum LLP.
