PHILADELPHIA - Southern Illinois senior tight end MyCole Pruitt earned a spot on The Sports Network All-America First Team, the organization announced Tuesday. Pruitt joins Cornell Craig (1999) as the only players in SIU history to earn first-team All-America honors from five different organizations.
Pruitt has also been named a first-team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association, Associated Press, Walter Camp Foundation and Athetics Directors Association. He earned first-team All-America honors in both 2013 and 2014 from The Sports Network, ADA, Associated Press and AFCA.
Pruitt set a school record with 81 receptions in 2014. He led all Division I tight ends (FBS and FCS) in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns; and he earned consensus first-team All-America honors for the second-straight year.
In his career, Pruitt set Missouri Valley Football Conference records for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns among tight ends; he ranks among the top-10 in MVFC history among all receivers in each category. Pruitt finished his career with 221 receptions, breaking the SIU record set by Craig.
Pruitt, a four-time All-MVFC selection and three-time All-American, graduated from Southern Illinois University earlier this month.
