Rigby Named MVC Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Southern Illinois men's tennis sophomore Jonny Rigby has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Rigby went 1-1 in both singles and doubles over the weekend matches against Northern Illinois and Detroit-Mercy.

He won at No. 1 singles and doubles against Detroit-Mercy on Saturday to push his singles record to a team-best 9-7 and his doubles record to a team-best 10-5. Rigby took down Jay Joshi of Detroit by a score of 6-3, 6-1, and in doubles he and Michal Kianicka defeated Joshi/Cawood 6-0. His two victories helped bring the Salukis within one match of defeating the Titans.
