CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois softball team will host Drake on March 22-23 in a series that was initially scheduled to be played in Des Moines, Iowa. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m., and will play the series finale at Noon on Sunday.
Due to weather concerns, the series was moved from Des Moines, Iowa, to Carbondale, Ill., and will be played at Charlotte West Stadium. UNI and Illinois State have also rescheduled their series to be played in Carbondale at Charlotte West Stadium. The Redbirds and Panthers will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1:30 and their series finale at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
"The partnership between Missouri Valley Conference members is strong and we are happy to help out when issues arise, such as weather," Director of Athletics Mario Moccia said. "This is also an excellent opportunity to showcase our facilities. With three teams, along with their support staffs, fans and parents coming to our area, it is an unexpected economic boost for the region, which is one of the major reasons the facilities were constructed. Finally, I would ask our fans to come out and support not only the Salukis, but our conference members as well."
Concessions will be open and available for all games.
