Mattie Lindner named MVC Golfer of the Week

CARBONDALE, Ill. - Junior Mattie Lindner was named MVC Golfer of the Week after competing in her second playoff in two tournaments this weekend as SIU hosted the Saluki Shootout.
Lindner finished the first round of the 36-hole tournament shooting a career-low 71. The second round presented some challenges, leaving Lindner tied for first, advancing her to a playoff round against SIU-Edwardsville's Alison Gorman. In a three-hole playoff, Gorman edged Lindner by one stroke, pushing her to second place with a final score of 146 (71, 75).
Last week, Lindner's putt for par in a four-hole team playoff against Murray State, pushing the Salukis to first place in the Jan Weaver - Murray State Invitational. After two high-intensity tournaments, Lindner has maintained composure and has finished each round successfully.
The Saluki women's golf team came away with its second straight win of the season on Sunday as it hosted the Saluki Shootout at Hickory Ridge Golf Course. The team finished with an overall score of 601 (299, 302), the fourth lowest 36-hole score in Saluki women's golf history.
