The Salukis head to Champaign, Ill. for a three-game series with the University of Illinois. Last season, SIU went 2-2 against the Fighting Illini.
WEEKEND STARTERS
Redshirt senior Aaron Hauge takes the mound on Friday for the Salukis. He enters the series with a 1-2 record this season and a 3.70 ERA. Michael Baird will make his second career start on Saturday for SIU. In his last outing, Baird pitched 4.1 innings and had a career-high seven strikeouts. Kyle Pauly will get his third start of the season on Sunday. Pauly gave the Salukis four strong innings in his last appearance.
SCOUTING THE SALUKIS
SIU enters the contest with the Illini with a 2-13 record. The Salukis dropped a close 9-4 decision in its last outing against Belmont on Tuesday. Offensively, Southern is hitting .222 so far this season. Greg Lambert leads the Salukis with 18 hits and eight RBIs. The Saluki pitching staff has a 6.71 ERA with 90 strikeouts.
ILLINOIS SERIES NOTES
SIU leads the all-time series against Illinois 33-31. Coach Henderson is 6-9 all-time against the Fighting Illini.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING ILLINI
The Fighting Illini enter the weekend series holding a 12-3-1 record. Illinois has been ranked in the top-25 of several different polls this season and enter the series against SIU with a No. 19 Ranking. The Illini are hitting .278 as a team with 10 home runs. Reid Roper leads Illinois with a .393 batting average, 24 hits and 15 RBIs. The pitching staff has been solid, posting a 2.06 ERA with 130 strikeouts. LHP Kyle Pauly returns for his sophomore campaign after being named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American last season. Pauly had a 2-3 record and a 1.43 ERA.

Freshman INF Chase Slone was Baseball America's pick to be the MVC Freshman of the Year.
HE'S GOING STREAKING
Freshman infielder Greg Lambert has a pair of streaks going, as he is currently in the midst of a 11 game hitting streak and has reached base safely in 15 straight games.
POCKET FULL OF DIMES
Chase Slone has been an iron wall at shortstop for SIU this season. The freshman infielder ranks first in the MVC with 52 assists.
BROTHERS IN ARMS
SIU pitchers Bryce Sablotny, Anthony Shimkus, and Jacob Williams have returned for Southern after all three players missed the 2014 season after under going Tommy John surgery. All three have already made appearances this season.
