CARBONDALE, Ill. - It will be a busy week for the Southern Illinois women's golf team, as they travel to Lemont, Ill., for the UIC Fall Invitational on Saturday, and then to Flossmoor, Ill., for the Loyola Invitational.
The Salukis are coming off a strong performance at the MSU Invitational, which saw Brooke Cusumano help lead SIU to a second-place team finish and her first-career tournament win as a Saluki. Set to compete for Southern on Saturday will be Cusumano, Hanna Netisingha, Xianmei Jin, Sun Young Jung, and Kristie Yang. Mattie Lindner and Alice Ho will compete as individuals.
"This is our third tournament and third line-up variation this season," head coach Alexis Mihelich said. "I'm hoping that this line-up combination will get us our first win of the season. The players enjoy playing on bent grass greens and the greens at Cog Hill should be rolling nice."
The UIC Fall Invitational will take place at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. Teams competing in the one-round event includes host school Illinois-Chicago, Chicago State, Green Bay, Bradley and Detroit. Start time is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Following Saturday's event, Southern will have a quick turnaround as they are set to compete at the Loyola Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Flossmoor Country Club. The tournament will open with 36 holes to be played on Monday, and 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will have an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
A recap will be available after each day of competition.
