CLEVELAND - Southern Illinois quarterback Mark Iannotti was named to the 52-man FCS ADA Academic All-Star team, the organization announced. Iannotti, who graduated from SIU in December with a 3.89 GPA in marketing, was one of 10 finalists for a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship.
Iannotti earned first-team Academic All-District honors in 2015. He set an MVFC regular-season record for total offense with 3,911 yards, and he led the nation in total offense per game. He led the MVFC in passing yards, passing touchdowns and total offense, setting Southern Illinois school records for single-season passing yards and total offense. He had games of 517 and 473 yards total offense this season, both of which rank in the top-10 in MVFC history. Iannotti averaged more yards individually than 47 FCS teams did as a whole. He finished as runner-up for MVFC Offensive Player of the Year and ninth in National Offensive Player of the Year voting.
Iannotti's selection marks the eighth-straight season SIU has had at least one player named to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star team. Last season, Corey Boemer and Tyler Williamson were on the team. Former Saluki punter Austin Pucylowski earned Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors from the organization in 2013.
