Saluki Men's Tennis team Competes in ITA Central Regional Championship

The SIU Men's Tennis team is travelling to Oklahoma to compete in the ITA Central Regional. The Salukis will be going up against some big schools such as Minnesota, Iowa, UMKC, and Tulsa, as well as many others. Coach Jonny Rigby said that they are among a strong region.
"This is a really strong field in our region," Rigby said. "This tournament is the biggest of the fall for us. We always look forward to competing with big schools such as Oklahoma, Oklahoma state, and Arkansas."
After having a combined record of 20-7 at the River Forest Invitational and an overall record of 13-7 at the Purdue Invitational, the Salukis are hoping to play strong at the tournament.
"It is hard to predict how the tournament will go," Rigby said. "But I am really proud of how the guys have played this semester and if they continue doing what they have been doing I'm sure we will have another successful tournament."
Both single and double draws have been released for the tournament. Piotr Baranski, Michal Kianicka, Peter Molloy, Wilder Pimentel, and Alex Pozo will be playing in singles. Kianicka and Pimentel, and Pozo and Baranski will be playing in doubles.
The ITA Central Regional Championship will begin tomorrow morning in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Live stream of the tournament can be watched at okstate.com/watchtennis.
