Black evens Fall World Series with 5-4 win

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Black team evened the Fall World Series with a 5-4 win over the Maroon team on Thursday afternoon at Itchy Jones Stadium. The day started with the final two outs of Game 1, which was postponed due to lightnight. The Maroon Team held on for a 10-9 win. After that, the Black Team won Game 2 5-4 to make Saturday's 10 a.m. scrimmage a series deciding Game 3.Â
Offense for both teams still got production across the board, with 12 of 16 hitters getting at least one hit in the seven-inning Game 2. But the pitching got out of a number jams. Justin Yeager had five strikeouts in three innings, allowing only one run. Jamison Steege struck out three in two scoreless innings and didn't issue a walk.Â
Offensively, Dyllin Mucha, Greg Lambert and Logan Blackfan all had multi-hit games for the Maroon team. Lambert started the scoring with a solo home run. For the Black team, Bradley Harrison answered Lambert's solo home run with one of his own early in the game. Hunter Anderson went 2-for-4 and Ranko Stevanovic went 2-for-3 with a two-RBI double.Â
The final game of the Fall World Series will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Itchy Jones Stadium.Â
