Men's Golf to wrap up fall season at Kennesaw State

The Southern Illinois men's golf team will wrap up its fall season on Monday and Tuesday at the Kennesaw State Pinetree Intercollegiate. The Salukis have played three tournaments so far this year, winning the Murray State Invitational, placing sixth at the Golfweek Conference Challange, and 13th at the LSU Intercollegiate.

"We are looking to finish off the fall season strong," said SIU head coach Justin Fetcho. "We have worked hard on our games since returning from our last event, so now it is time to relax, trust the work we have done and have some fun. If we can do those things, it will be a successful week."

The tournament will be played a the Pinetree Country Club, where Southern placed fifth out of 12 teams in the same tournament a year ago.

"We have played tough, demanding golf courses all fall and Pinetree will be no different," Fetcho said. "We have focused a lot on handling different situations that are presented and being able to stay mentally strong in any situation."

The five-man Saluki lineup for the tournament will be Peyton Wilhoit, Luke Gannon, Matt Greenfield, Sam Meek and Frankie Thomas. Dirk Kuehler will play as an individual.

"We have three players who have played the golf course before, so we will rely on them to be the leaders for us this week in terms of preparation," Fetcho said. "I believe this golf course sets up very well for us and I'm looking forward to seeing some good results."
