The Saluki women's golf team will play in its final tournament of the fall season on Monday and Tuesday at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee.
"We need to have a strong final tournament to gain good momentum going into the offseason," head coach Alexis Mihelcih said. "Playing well and winning golf tournaments is contagious and that's where we need to get back."
Southern has had a fall season featuring a team victory at the UIC Fall Invite, a medalist finish for Brooke Cusumano at the Loyola Chicago Rambler Invitational and four top-five finishes for the team.Â
Austin Peay, a team SIU saw less than a week ago at the MVC Preview, is hosting the 36-hole event at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson, Tennessee. Along with Austin Peay, the Salukis have already played with Belmont, Tennessee State and North Carolina A&T earlier this season.
Mihelich will take the same team from last week's MVC Preview. Seniors Brooke Cusumano and Kristie Yang, Juniors Hanna Netisingha and Alice Ho and Sun Jung will feature in the final fall tournament.
"I expect the girls to come out and make birdies," Mihelich said. "We are a team that makes a whole lot of pars but going forward we need to capitalize on our solid ball striking."
The F&M BANK APSU Intercollegiate starts Monday at 11:30 a.m.
