ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Valley Conference announced today that ESPN has made its selections for the final two MVC regular-season women’s basketball productions for The Valley on ESPN3.
The Missouri State at Southern Illinois women’s basketball game on Friday, February 19, and the Loyola at Drake women’s contest on Friday, February 26, will be distributed on The Valley on ESPN3.
On February 19, league-leading Missouri State (14-7, 7-2 MVC) will visit Southern Illinois (13-8, 6-3 MVC) in a 6 p.m. Central contest at SIU Arena in Carbondale, Ill.
Missouri State took the first meeting between the two schools on Sunday, January 24, when the Lady Bears had two 20-point scorers (Kenzie Williams, 25 and Tyonna Snow, 20) in an 82-77 victory in Springfield.
On February 26, league-leading Drake (14-6, 7-2 MVC) will play host to Loyola (10-10, 6-3 MVC) in a 7 p.m. Central contest at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
Drake took the first meeting between the two schools on Sunday, January 31, when the Bulldogs used an offensive outburst in the third and fourth quarters en route to an 81-65 triumph.
The selection of these games marks the second time that ESPN has used a “Wildcard” process to determine one of its MVC women’s basketball productions for The Valley on ESPN3. Both contests will also be available on the WatchESPN App.
Using the Wildcard Weekend model, the league, through its television partners ESPN, CBS Sports Network, FOX Sports Midwest and Comcast SportsNet Chicago, reserves clearance windows for late February and March dates in the fall of each academic year and waits until the midpoint of the men’s and women’s basketball seasons to determine its final regular-season telecasts.
