Carlson named to Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar team

Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Team

NORMAN, Okla. - Southern Illinois junior Brandon Carlson was one of 212 Division I golfers who earned a spot on the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar team, the organization announced Wednesday. Carlson had four top-10 finishes this season, including a third-place finish at the 2016 MVC Championships, where he helped lead the Salukis to their first-ever Missouri Valley Conference title.

Carlson is SIU's first All-America Scholar since Jake Erickson earned the honor in both 2012 and 2013. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
