Saluki Summer Ball Update

Southern Illinois baseball players continue to excel as summer ball nears its end. Here's a quick update on some Salukis this summer before they head back to Carbondale and officially get the 2017 season underway with fall practices.
NORTHWOODS LEAGUE
NORTHWOODS LEAGUE
- Greg Lambert leads the 18-team league with 58 RBIs this summer. Only 11 players are within 20 RBIs of Lambert's summer total.
- Connor Kopach has stolen 41 bases this summer, 12 more than anyone else in the league. Only six players are within 20 stolen bases of Kopach's summer total.
- Kopach also ranks second in the league in runs scored (51).
- Nick Hutchins is hitting .322, making him the top-hitting catcher in the league.
- Jake Hand has hits in five of his last 11 games, including a three-hit game against ThunderBay.
- Lambert has 14 multi-hit games in his last 20. He's hitting .435 with 22 RBIs in that span and has raised his summer average to .342, which is sixth-best in the league.
- Kopach (11 games) and Lambert (12 games) have both put together hitting streaks in the last two weeks. Hutchins has 14 hits (including three 3-hit games) in the last nine games.
- Kopach and Hutchins were named to the NWL MLB Showcase, which will take place on August 9.Â
- In terms of runs created, Greg Lambert ranks fifth in the league (46.6), Kopach ranks 15th (35.75) and Hutchins ranks 17th (35.65).
- Lambert, Kopach and Hutchins were all All-Stars in the league. Lambert was in the league's Home Run Derby and went 2-for-3 in the All-Star game.
- Will Farmer (DuPage Drones) is coming off a recent 13-game hitting streak that included seven multi-hit games.
- He is hitting .323 in the last 22 games and has raised his summer average 100 points over the last six weeks.
- On the summer, Farmer is hitting .298 with seven doubles in 43 games.
GREAT LAKES LEAGUE
- Dyllin Mucha ended his summer with a flourish, collecting 12 hits over the final six games of the season.
- Mucha went 5-for-5 with two runs scored, two doubles, a home run and six RBIs on July 23.
WEST COAST LEAGUE
- Ryan Smith was an All-Star in the WCL and is hitting .302 on the summer, the second-best mark for the Gresham GreyWolves.
- Smith leads Gresham in doubles (10), RBIs (22) and OPS (.806).
- Drew Curtis also plays for the GreyWolves and is riding a four-game hitting streak.
- While Smith leads Gresham in RBIs, Curtis is tied for third on the team with 15.
- Curtis is 8-for-17 over the last four games. He went 4-for-5 with a double, home run and three RBIs on July 31.
