LOS ANGELES - Southern Illinois linebacker Chase Allen will play in the NFL Players Association Bowl today, Saturday, January 21, 2017, at 3:15 CT in Los Angeles, Calif. The game will be televised nationally on FS1. Allen is the third Saluki in the last four years to play in the game. Ray Agnew and Malcolm Agnew played in the game after the 2013 and 2014 seasons, respectively.Â
Allen recently completed a career as one of the best linebackers in school history. He led the team in tackles in each of the last three seasons, becoming just the second player in program history to be the team's leading tackler three times. He had 292 tackles over the last three seasons and ranks 12th at SIU in career tackles with 324. Since 2000, only Bart Scott, Alexis Moreland and Royal Whitaker have more career tackles than Allen.Â
Allen will play for the American Team and will wear No. 55. He will be coached by former Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn.Â
