Raphael Leonard signs with the Salukis

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois head football coach Nick Hill announced on Friday that Raphael Leonard (WR, East Mississippi CC) signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Saluki Football program in Spring 2016. Leonard will be a third-year junior for the 2017 season.
Leonard (6-3, 190) led the East Mississippi Lions in touchdown receptions in 2017 with seven during their 11-1 season. Leonard caught 23 passes for 357 yards, and his 15.5 yards per reception average was second on the team. He transferred to EMCC from Florida Atlantic, where he played in two games as a true freshman in 2015.

Leonard attended Starkville High School in Starkville, Miss. There, he recorded 60 receptions for 1,147 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was a two-time All-State selection and was an MVP of the Mississippi vs. Alabama All-Star game. He also played basketball and was a part of the 2014-15 state championship team.
