The Saluki Women's Golf team claimed back to back titles at the APSU Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Â
The Salukis ended with final score of 914, 18 strokes above second place Louisiana at Monroe and UNC Asheville. The Dawgs three round score puts them ninth in all time low 54-hole score in the SIU record book.
Â
This is the sixth time the 2017-18 team has made it into the record book this year and Head Coach Alexis O'Brien's 18th win with the team.
Â
O'Brien said their record breaking is promising for the future of the team.
Â
"We are halfway through our fall season and we haven't even come close to playing to our potential or peaking yet," said O'Brien.
Â
Senior Hanna Netisingha shot the lowest of the Salukis with a 227. She ended the tournament in third place only two strokes behind first place winner Mallory Sullivan from Belmont.
Â
"Hanna really got it together in the final round," O'Brien said. She really moved up a couple spots and it's great for her confidence for the last three events."
Â
Freshman Moyea Russell finished one stroke behind Netisingha in fourth place. And senior Alice Ho tied for fifth place with an overall score of 229. Freshman Emilyee McGiles ended tied for 11th.
Â
O'Brien said the Russell and McGiles are the ones keeping the team in the tournament. She said they are consistent and she believes as they continue to polish up on their game, their scores will stay low.
Â
Sophomore Lili Klekner-Alt ended tied for 15th place in her roster debut.
Â
The Salukis continue their season at the Cougar Classic on Oct. 9-10.
