
Handley places fifth at Winter Nationals

Saluki senior Bryn Handley turned in a fifth place finish in Thursday night's 500-yard freestyle B Final at the USA Swimming Winter Nationals Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
Handley, who was the only Saluki in competition on Thursday, swam the 500-yard freestyle final in a time of 4:48.50 and outperformed swimmers from Ohio State and Cincinnati in the event. Her finals time was her fastest in the event this season. She finished 10th in the prelims on Thursday morning with a time of 4:48.81 to get into the B FInal.Â
The USA Swimming Winter National Championships continue tomorrow and Saturday. Handley will compete in the 200-yard freestyle and 1,650-yard freestyle and sophomore Sam Parsons was race in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke in the next two days.
