Saluki Athletics teams up with Carbondale Police for "Coats for Kids" Coat Drive

Saluki Athletics will collect coats at four home basketball games in November.
CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University Department of Athletics is co-sponsoring a "Coats for Kids" coat drive this holiday season.
The "Coats for Kids" initiative is a collaborative effort between Carbondale's Police Department, SIUC's Department of Public Safety and Saluki Athletics that hopes to provide area children with winter coats. The donated coats will benefit the children served by the Carbondale Police Department Community Christmas Store.
Fans are encouraged to donate new or gently used coats of any size in an effort to help our Southern Illinois neighbors that are in need during the cold winter months.
Saluki Athletics will team up with Carbondale Police to collect coats during four Saluki basketball games, beginning with Friday's women's basketball season opener against UT Martin. A full list of collection dates is below.
Coats will also be accepted for donation at the Carbondale Police Department, 501 S. Washington Street, and the SIU Athletics Department, room 127 in the Dr. Don Knapp Communication Offices, 1490 Douglas Drive.
Last year, the "Coats for Kids" drive collected over 90 coats, and over 125 the year before.

Women's Basketball | Friday, Nov. 10 vs. UT Martin | 6 p.m.
Men's Basketball | Saturday, Nov. 18 vs. University of Illinois-Springfield | 7 p.m.
Women's Basketball | Monday, Nov. 27 vs. SIUE | 6 p.m.
Men's Basketball | Wednesday, Nov. 29 vs. SIUE | 7 p.m.
