Ingram, Engel named MVC Field Athletes of the Week

ST. LOUIS -- Isaac Ingram and Cara Engel have been named the Missouri Valley Conference Field Athletes of the Week, the Valley announced Tuesday. Ingram jumped to No. 14 in the NCAA in the weight throw after he recorded a personal-best at the Don DeNoon Invitational, while Engel won her third event title of the season with the second-best clearance of her career.

Isaac Ingram continued his superb indoor season at the Don DeNoon Invitational, as he moved up to No. 14 in the NCAA in the weight throw. The Harrisburg, Ill. native once again unleashed a personal-best toss of 69'-6.75" (21.20m). In addition to cracking the top-16 in the event nationally, Ingram also moved up to No. 5 on SIU's all-time list.

Female Field Athlete of the Week: Cara Engel, Southern Illinois, Sr.
Cara Engel cleared 13'-4.50" (4.08m) to win the pole vault for the third time this season at the Don DeNoon Invitational Friday night. Engel sailed over the bar unscathed on her third attempt at that height, and it marked the second-best clearance of her career. In addition to be ranked No. 1 in the Missouri Valley Conference, the Grayslake, Ill. native also sits at No. 20 on the NCAA list.
