The Southern Illinois track and field team will split competition this weekend, sending athletes to both the Tom Jones Memorial in Gainesville, Florida, and the Gibson Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana. This officially marks them entering the second half of their outdoor season.

A group of Salukis will travel to Gainesville to compete in the Tom Jones Memorial, which begins Friday at noon with the men's and women's hammer throw.

Athletes competing in Florida:

Luke Leverett — 4x100-meter relay
Xavier Preston — 4x100-meter relay, 100-meter, 200-meter, 4x400-meter relay
Kwame Smith — 4x100-meter relay, 200-meter, 400-meter
Otto De St. Jeor — 4x100-meter relay, 200-meter
Jalen Dickerson — 400-meter hurdles, 4x400-meter relay
Donte Long — 4x400-meter relay
Shane Ashton — 400-meter hurdles

Trinity Cleaver — 4x100-meter relay
Leah Thames — 4x100-meter relay, 200-meter, 400-meter
Triniti Douglas — 4x100-meter relay, 100-meter hurdles
KeyAnn Wilson — 4x100-meter relay

The remainder of the team will compete at the Gibson Invitational, which begins Thursday at 10 a.m. in Terre Haute, Indiana, at the Gibson Track and Field Complex.

Both meets serve as key preparation for the upcoming Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Championships and NCAA postseason competition. The Memorial will be available to stream on ESPN+.
