Brandon Carlson named MVC Golfer of the Week

Southern Illinois senior golfer Brandon Carlson was named the Missouri Valley Conference golfer-of-the-week, the league office announced today. SIU competed at the Louisiana Classics tournament this week that featured 16 teams, including Top 25 programs in Illinois, LSU, Texas A&M and Kent State. Carlson claimed 16th place at 5-over par. He was tied for eighth-place at 2-under heading into the final round, and ended up 15 strokes behind tournament champion Sam Burns (-10) of LSU. With a pair of 71s in the first two rounds, Carlson was the only Saluki golfer to shoot below par during the tournament at the 6,898-yard Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette.
