The Saluki men's tennis team plays two home matches this week and looks to extend its five-match winning streak. The Dawgs will host Southwest Baptist at 11 a.m. on Wednesday and Eastern Kentucky at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Southwest Baptist is currently 8-0 on the season and Eastern Kentucky is 10-5, and SIU head coach Jonny Rigby expects tough matches from both teams.
"Southwest Baptist is undefeated and will be a good challenge for us," Rigby said. "Eastern Kentucky is a consistently strong team. We beat them last year and I expect another tight match."
SIU enters the matches with several players either riding lengthy winning streaks or ranked among the nation's best. Wilder Pimentel has won 12 singles matches in a row, while Piotr Baranski moved up in singles and is now ranked No. 86 nationally. He along with Alex Pozo are ranked No.59 in doubles.
