Men's Golf in 12th place at Boilermaker Invitational after Day One

The Southern Illinois men's golf team is in 12th place at 36-over par after Day One of competition on Saturday at the Boilermaker Invitational, hosted by Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Today's rounds were played under high-wind conditions and no team was able to break par. No. 11-ranked Kent State leads the field at 5-over par, with Purdue six strokes behind at 11-over. The Salukis got off to a great start and were in sixth place after the first round with an 11-over par 299. They slipped six spots in the standings with a 313 in round two.
The top performances of the day for SIU belonged to Peyton Wilhoit (+7) and Matt Greenfield (+8), who are tied for 31st and 39th place respectively. All five Saluki golfers carded rounds of 77 or better in the first round, but three of them shot 80 in round two as conditions on the course worsened throughout the day.
The final round at the 7,465-yard Kampen Course starts tomorrow morning..
