Sam Meek named MVC Golfer of the Week

Southern Illinois freshman Sam Meek was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. A native of Peterborough, Ontario, Meek helped the Salukis climb three spots on the final day to finish in ninth place at Purdue's Boilermaker Invitational last weekend. Meek was SIU's top finisher, tying for 23rd place in the individual standings at 5-over par. He shot a career-low 67 during the final round on Sunday, in which he birdied nine holes. Meek tied for the second-best round of the day.
