- SIU will host Austin Peay on Tuesday to close out a stretch of nine games at home in the last 10.
- Southern is coming off a three-game sweep of Evansville this weekend to open Missouri Valley Conference play 3-0 for the first time since 2011.
- SIU is 14-8 on the weekends but just 1-6 in mid-week matchups, including a 10-3 loss at Austin Peay on Feb. 22.
- Henry Boeckmann is scheduled to make his second career start. His first career start was last week against Arkansas State; he allowed one run in three innings.

- Since March 1, SIU closer Ryan Netemeyer has pitched 13.1 innings. He has allowed zero runs and just five hits while striking out 16 in that span.
- Netemeyer ranks fourth in the nation with nine saves this season.
- SIU has turned 28 double plays this year, which leads the MVC and ranks 23rd nationally. Over the last three seasons, SIU has turned 143 double plays in 144 games. That leads the MVC in that span.
